Founded in 1972 by François Léage, the Galerie Léage is specialized in furniture and objets d’art of the 18th century, of museal quality. Directed since almost ten years by Guillaume Léage, the gallery is recognized as one of the principal galleries in its domain, for the quality and the taste of the works presented. The gallery rigorously selects furniture and art objects from the Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI periods, with royal or aristocratic origins or with a counterpart in a museum or a large collection.
Guillaume Léage is a fifth generation antique dealer, specializing in the 18th century, and perpetuates the values of excellence in the selection of furniture and art objects. Today, Galerie Léage is pleased to see part of its collections in institutions such as the Versailles and Compiègne castles, the Louvre museum, the Jean-Paul Getty museum (Los Angeles), the Legion of Honor (San Francisco), the Metropolitan musuem of Art (New York), and the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA, Boston), and continues the tradition of donating to museums.
Galerie Léage has participated for 40 years in the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris, through which it has built its reputation by creating stands with decorations featuring some of the most spectacular 18th century woodwork, and since 2019, it has perpetuated its values of excellence at TEFAF in Maastricht, the world’s largest antique art event. At the same time, and in order to offer a more contemporary vision of the art of collecting, it multiplies dialogues to encourage new generations to combine 18th century furniture with modern and contemporary art through exhibitions within its walls.
